Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Cloud Engineering, the Principal Engineer will work on an exciting Government Service contract where you will design, deliver, and optimise secure, scalable cloud and hybrid infrastructure for mission-critical UK services. You will serve as the technical authority for cloud architecture, ensuring solutions meet performance, security, and compliance standards This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to travel to our customer sites on occasion.
What you’ll do:
Define and set technical solution priorities within your area of responsibility, ensuring timely and successful project delivery, and coordinate efforts with other technical leads. Provide expert oversight in generating innovative concepts for new products or services, and guide the development of detailed design plans. Oversee the full lifecycle of technical solutions, from initial concept through design, development, production, and deployment or installation. Produce precise and comprehensive technical plans that translate ideas into actionable designs. Select optimal materials and components to meet performance, safety, and cost requirements. Prepare accurate cost forecasts and resource plans to support project viability and budgeting. Ensure completion of all required technical, safety, and regulatory documentation. Provide technical oversight for quality assurance and testing, ensuring new products, systems, or services meet all performance and compliance standards before deployment.

Key Requirements:
Proven experience designing, deploying, and optimising solutions in public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and on-premises environments. Strong understanding of hybrid infrastructure, networking, and integration between cloud and on-prem systems. Solid knowledge of virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and storage technologies. Experience with security best practices across cloud and on-prem environments, including identity management, encryption, and compliance frameworks. Strong skills in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and incident resolution for complex infrastructure. Strong problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering robust, real-world solutions. Must be eligible for SC Clearance
